EGL 102: Literature For The Soul

5/4/24

My Reflection of EGL 102:

I’ve learned a lot from this class in just a short amount of time.  I walked in the class on the first day of Farmingdale, this was my 3rd class of the day.  I then ran into the most outgoing teacher I most likely have had in my college career.  I did not know what to expect or how I would adapt but slowly but surely I started to make friends along the way.  Brandon and John and Arthur were very quick to become my school friends which is very nice due to being new to a school you have people you would associate with.

Over the course of the semester I genuinely enjoyed it a lot, but most importantly it really was not the books or short stories that made an impact.  It was writing that really helped me become not only a better person with more knowledge, it made me become more knowledgeable of things I either forgot or never even knew about.   I really enjoyed our short story unit, especially Children Of The Sea.  This story really showed off our powerful theme of silence by showing a lot of symbolism it really did have.

Ultimately I wish I had 3 more weeks left in this class just so I can have the poetry unit.. I really did enjoy every part of this class.  If I had to end it off it would be with my absolute favorite piece we read/wrote about and that was easily Antigone.  That book had so much to tell and I was all for it.  I loved every single second of our fishbowls and our workshops.  Thank you so much Prof. Brady for making me the best possible writer I could possibly become.  Yes, I know I have much more to work on because I’d like to be a lawyer but no matter what when I am older and get complimented on my writing, I’d say thank my college professor I had in my junior year.
